Monthly Archives: July 2009

A few weeks ago, ISES held their July breaker at National Harbor.  The event was held on the West Pier overlooking the Potomac. While the weather did not want to cooperate, we had a great time taking in the view anyway.  If you want a waterfront wedding, this is a great location and it’s close to DC.  Images from ISES.

Select styles of J. Crew’s wedding and parties collection is now available at the Georgetown location. Appointments must be made, so contact Theresa to view.  Image from J. Crew.

Sprinkles Cupcakes, the Beverly Hills based cupcake bakery, is taking their goodies on the road!  The sprinklesmobile is available for private events at a minimum of $2k.  This is such a fun idea for a wedding!  Even better, Sprinkles is coming to DC in the near future!  Image from Sprinkles Cupcakes.

Filene’s Basement is holding their Running of the Brides on July 31 at Mazza Gallerie.  Get there early (i.e. camp out the night before) in order to get a good place in line. Within 60 seconds, the racks are empty and ladies are bartering (or fighting) for the dress they want at a steep discount.  Image from Filene’s.

Elan Artists, along with the Four Seasons and Janet Flowers, hosted a Summer Cocktail Fete last Thursday.  As guests entered Seasons restaurant, we were greeted by two beautiful and very cool brides passing champagne.  The evening kicked off with signature cocktails and mingling with other industry professionals.  Four Seasons kept the food coming from sliders to gazpacho.  The Source, Raggs & the All-Stars (my wedding band!), Truth Groove and Nation, kept us entertained thru out the night.  This was definitely one of the best events I have been to, but you have to give it to Josh from Elan, as he always puts on a great show!  Images from Elan Artists.

Last Wednesday I attended Washingtonian’s Best of Party.  It was totally fun and totally crowded. However, it was worth it for some Georgetown Cupcake and guacamole from Rosa Mexicano.  Images from Washingtonian.

On Tuesday I went to Bliss at the new W with one of very good catering friends, and we both received well-deserved massages.  The lounge area offers upbeat music, light and olives, cheese and brownies. What I really love about this spa is how much energy there is. (I don’t feel like I have to be quiet.)

I must highly recommend Tracy who was my masseuse for the afternoon. He was amazing and I will continue going back to see him.  This is my new go-to spa!  Image from Bliss.

I am so happy (yet really sad) that Molly and Hank are married. Molly was the best client one could ever ask for, and as a full service bride she was just a joy to work with.  They were married at Christ Church in Old Town and then moved to the Torpedo Factory for some serious partying.  The reception was organic, natural and so much fun.   Image from Rodney Bailey.
