The weekend before Easter, we collaborated with Alison at Main Event on the most fun and amazing Easter Luncheon. Our client lives in Georgetown and hosted the event for her five year old daughter and their friends.  One-hundred guests arrived and were greeted by a costumed Easter bunny and butlers passing mimosas and sparkling water.  As they moved thru the home, they passed the buffet which included egg shaped quiche and crudite in individual vessels.  In the backyard, all the childrens festivities took place.  Tables were set up for egg dying and cookie decorating, a dj played kiddie music and a petting zoo complete with a baby lamb, chicks, bunnies and rabbits.

The highlight of the day had to have been the Easter egg hunt.  The client is friends and next door neighbors with the owner of Evermay, so we used Evermay’s gardens for the 400 egg hunt.

While we don’t normally work on private events, this was such a fabulous, gracious client and she had a great vision!  Thank you to Ryan at Regeti’s for doing an amazing job documenting this event for us!

Last week I attended a little event at the Westin Grand. The evening was centered around the hotel’s heavenly bed and we enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, dessert, beer tasting and music interlaced with the word “heaven”.  I had such a fun time in the relaxing atmosphere.

Last night I attended a fabulous little event -  The Release of St. Regis Weddings, 2009/2010.  Wedding planners were invited to share an evening with the St. Regis staff in the Presidential Suite (entrance to the suite below) and enjoy champagne, mojitos and yummy canapes.  They also had some great giveaways. Unfortunately I did not win, but I would have really enjoyed the St. Regis suite for the weekend or dinner at Adour.  Image from St. Regis.

Just because you are the bride does not mean you have to wear white or ivory to the rehearsal. Take a cue from our bride from last weekend.  She wore a fabulous Diane von Furstenberg poplin wrap dress in red. It looked great on her tan skin and with her blonde hair.   She looked amazing!  Image from Neiman Marcus.

Clients often ask me what they should buy their parents as thank you gifts for helping with the wedding. While they may love something like a photo of you two or a crystal vase, I’ve found that a little excursion is always best.  Whether its tickets to their favorite sporting event, a gift certificate to a restaurant or a weekend at a B&B, these always seem to be the best bet.

When thinking about the design for your wedding, don’t just look at wedding magazines, wedding websites or read wedding blogs. You’d be surprised at what fabulous and usable ideas you’ll find in home magazines, on personal blogs and in real life. A lot of ideas I work with my clients on come from them personally – inspired by the stores they shop in for their homes and restaurants they like to eat at.
