Last month we attended the ISES Halloween Party held at The University Club. I went as a flapper and Melissa went as a referee. Michael Bonfigli captured the evening, all while donning a vintage photographer’s costume. We had a really fun time enjoying the decor and watching our friends dance! Images from Michael Bonfigli.

I now see why everyone has been telling me to join Facebook. If I’m not at a tasting, networking with industry professionals or doing a site visit, then I’m probably typing lengthy emails with one of my brides or vendors. The last thing I want to do is be on the computer for any reason other than work. However, I love how I’m catching up with old friends and the prospect of new business can never hurt you!
Last night we attended an event to toast the new look and name of Jana Curcio Photography. The Observatory and Andrea celebrated at Rosa Mexicano downtown. Congratulations and we look forward to working with you! (Thanks for the pomegranate margaritas and guacamole!) Image from Jana Curcio.

If you are getting married in the coming winter months and are still in need of candle holders, these mercury pillar ones from Pottery Barn are perfect. There are not many venues in DC that allow open flame, but if your venue does, these are really beautiful and just slightly festive. Image from Pottery Barn.

One day last week I had lunch at Central downtown. Michel Richard is the owner, and he also owns Citronelle-one of the best restaurants in DC. I had the Cherry Tomato and Burrata Mozzarella Salad and the Macaroni and Cheese. YUMMY! Image from Central.

Last night my husband and I saw Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza at the National Harbor. We go every year Cirque is in town and always have a great time. Afterwards, we went to dinner at Rosa Mexicano. If you have not yet had a chance to visit National Harbor, do so as this is a really nice area with fun restaurants for rehearsal dinners. (Kooza is also in town for another month, so get tickets if you can!) Image from Cirque du Soleil.

I came across this little article on Washingtonian’s blog, and just had to post it. Anne and her fiance Mike are engaged and getting married next May. Anne is one of my favorite account executives and she works at Capitol Catering, a really fabulous caterer. She is super responsive, so nice and really easy to work with. In fact, we’ll be working at a wedding with Anne this weekend at Woodend! Image from Washingtonian.

On Sunday, a bridal salon in Lakewood, CO offered 30 free wedding gowns for military brides to be. Brides had to show proper id and qualifying papers in order to participate. This is such a wonderful idea and I love how there are so many different ways to support our courageous men and women of the military. Image from 9 News.

Last Thursday we attended the Wedding Experience at Gaylord National. The evening was a chance for local wedding planners to see the space set up for a ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Some great vendors were showcasing, and included was Greenworks Florist. The best part of the evening was the dessert station and chocolate martinis. Gaylord National is a good space if you are looking for a hotel wedding with an amazing view of the Potomac.
